I debated between giving Tipico 2-3 stars. I'm going with 3 because most likely I will go back and try it, and i figured if it was a 2 I highly doubt i would go back. For the past 3 years I have lived just out of walking distance yet had never gone. After hearing some good things, I tried it last night. We ordered it to go, and it was ready (and warm!) when we got there. It smelled delicious, and i was excited to consume. I ordered the Chicken Paillard which came with fried plantains(my fav), white rice and an entire side of black beans, and a good portion of chicken. The plantains were good, and the chicken had a great flavor but was a little dry. Rice is rice but i thought the black beans could have had a bit more of a kick. Overall it was a good meal, but nothing great. I have heard a lot of good things, so i think i will give it another go, but just order something else. Their menu is quite extensive and has something for everyone. oh and btw...one of my biggest "food peeves" is when food leaves a smell...my car still smelled like cuban when i got in to leave for work this morning.

Stopped in here one day for lunch, as it is a little neighborhood Mexican restaurant we have been wanting to try. Big mistake! Really nothing was good about it other than fast service. Both of our entrees were smothered with cheese, maybe trying to disguise the fact that there wasn't any flavor otherwise. The meal wasn't even worth finishing, and upset both my husband and I's stomach's. I would skip this place if it's on your "to try" list.

Solid, reliable Mexican. Nice small place and a cozy atmosphere. Beer was cheap ($4) and the chips kept coming. There was nothing outstanding about the food, but it was a slow night and the service was good.

One of our regular favorites for Mexican fare. We always start out our meal with Super Nachos. The staff is super friendly, prices are very reasonable and service is top notch. We enjoy fajitas, arroz con pollo(Chx n' rice), and any many of their traditional dishes.

Decent Mexican food for south Florida. I haven't really found a Mexican restaurant worth of 5 stars in south Florida yet. In a nutshell, the food was decent and the prices were great. The restaurant is a cute, small space that is dimly lit with old school paper place mats with a map of Florida on them. I've had the pollo la plancha before which was delicious, last night I had the pollo la monterrey which was ok. The chicken was a little too well done, it was a bit chewy and lacked flavor. I was a bit upset that being a Mexican/Spanish restaurant they didn't serve horchata, but they had hot Lipton tea. All in all I had decent meal and nice service for under $15.

Lunch specials all between $6-$9 and include a soft drink. You can choose from several Mexican favorites like tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas to Spanish dishes like baby palomilla steak, pollo a la plancha, etc. For the price, it's good value, but you can have better tasting Mexican and/or Spanish food for under $10 lunch specials at La Bamba. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is casual and cozy. I hear the chicken soup is outstanding. Be warned that when you order a soda, it's a can, so a refill will cost you.

The service here is excellent. The food, however, is a little inconsistent. I've been twice, and ordered the Veggie Burrito both times. The first time, I thought it was amazing. But, the second time, it wasn't so much a burrito, as it was a vegetable wrap with a little melted cheese on top. Prices are reasonable though, so if you're in the area, and in the mood for some pretty decent Mexican food, give it a shot.

I'm a huge fan of Mexican cuisine and, having lived in South Florida longer than I care to admit, I've come to grips with the fact that we just don't have a lot of solid authentic Mexican food here. Tipico further proves this point. I have tried their seafood burrito and also chicken enchiladas. Both come with yellow rice and beans, and I found them to be rather bland. My friend who was with me came to the same conclusion. Not somewhere I'll be headed again any time soon.

I am giving them 5 stars for their roast pork. It's the best roast pork I have ever had. On occasion I crave it. I also love their salsa. Coming from Texas, I don't consider this Mexican food. But the roast pork is amazing.

I wanted to try Tipico after hearing some co-workers talk about their food being good. I have to admit after reading some of the negative reviews I was worried about service/servers. Just so everyone knows, I had NO complaints about the service. They were quick and very pleasant. I was served the comp chips and salsa and I really enjoyed them. The chips were hot and you could tell they were homemade. The salsa both hot and mild were served nicely chilled. Usually I get salsa that is warm. They must store the salsa in the frig because it was nice and cool. A good contrast to the hot (temp) chips. I then had the Del Mar Burrito which is listed on the menu as a burrito filled with crab and lagostinos. When I ordered this, the server promptly told me that the burrito only had crab in it and not lagostinos. I said I wanted it anyways without the side of beans and for them to give me more yellow rice instead. He gladly said, no problem. My order came out and it looked great and even tasted even better. the burrito wasn't too big but it was filled with real crab and it was piping hot. The rice tasted fresh and was not hard/crunchy like some tex/mex places I have eated at. Overall I like the place and I will be back.Remember to tell them Dan sent you for the above average chips and salsa... and the Crab Burrito. Stay Hungry!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
